Starting Lessons
Contact me by email at [email protected]. I’ll look at my schedule and we’ll see if there’s a time slot that works for you. Lessons happen weekly at the same time each week. If we find a time that works for you, we’ll schedule a sort of “meet and greet” lesson to make sure that the student and I are a good match. We’ll also make sure the student understands the dedication they’ll need if they hope to see progress. Once that’s clear, we can discuss scheduling and payment policies.
Payment Policies
-Lessons are $26 per 30 minute lesson (there are 5 minute breaks between lessons)
-Lessons must be paid for every three months on the first of January, April, July, and October.
-Students must sign up for a minimum of 10 lessons every three month period.
-At the beginning of each 3 month period, students will receive a bill detailing the dates of their lessons for that period. I will assume you are planning on attending all lessons offered each period. If you are not, please let me know and I will remove them from your bill, but keep in mind you are required to sign up for a minimum of 10 lessons each period.
-Lessons will not be offered some weeks because of holidays.
-All payments are final. Refunds will not be given out for any reason.
-I do not guarantee makeup lessons for absences. If I can offer a makeup, I will, but usually my schedule does not allow it. And when it does, I will heavily prioritize those who missed lessons due to illness.
-In the event that I cannot attend a lesson for whatever reason, I will forward payment of that lesson to the next 3-month period.
Scheduling
-If you miss a lesson for any reason, I cannot guarantee a makeup lesson. I’ll do my best to make it happen, but usually my schedule does not allow it. And when it does, I will heavily prioritize those who missed lessons due to illness. If you miss a lesson, assume you are not getting a makeup.
-In the event that I cannot attend a lesson for whatever reason, I will forward payment of that lesson to the next pay period.
-If there is a lesson you know you cannot attend ahead of time, I’ll see what I can do about moving you around, but again, my schedule usually does not allow it. Please make sure that your time slot is open for you every week.
Studio Policies
-Students should try to arrive at least 5 minutes before their scheduled lesson time. This lets us begin in a timely manner and meet all of our goals for the lesson.
-Students should come to lessons prepared. This means that they have practiced a sufficient amount, have completed written assignments, and have their materials with them which include: a pencil and eraser, their lesson book, theory book, and any other books we may be working out of at the time.
-Students should aim to practice for 20-30 minutes every day. It is best if the time of day the student practices is the same every day to help establish good practice habits. Consistency is far more important than quantity. Please try to avoid skipping practice. On very busy days where it feels like there is no time to practice, even one minute of practice or even just playing through one piece is much better than nothing at all, especially at early ages.
Ending Lessons
-If you are no longer interested in continuing piano lessons, simply let me know. You will not be refunded for any lessons remaining you’ve been billed for. There are no additional fees or requirements.
Dismissal From Studio
-Under extreme circumstances, it may become necessary for me to eject students from my studio. Reasons for ejection include, but are not limited to: violent or inappropriate behavior in the studio, neglected payments, frequent and repeated absences. In order to protect my studio, I reserve the right to dismiss students from my studio for any reason I deem necessary.
